HI. I’M ADAM REID.

I’m an Emmy Award-winning director, writer and creator. I make shows, films, characters and original worlds for networks, streamers, brands — and myself.

WHAT HAVE YOU MADE?

I created The Doug Out! for Major League Baseball and co-created the Emmy Award-winning The Tiny Chef Show for Nickelodeon.

I’ve directed for Netflix, MLB, Warner Bros., NBC, Peacock and a bunch of brands you’ve heard of — most recently the Field of Dreams game open and NFL Christmas Gameday open for Netflix.

I also wrote and directed the indie feature Hello Lonesome, nominated for the Film Independent Spirit Awards’ John Cassavetes Award, and somehow found time to publish a few books along the way.

HOW’D YOU GET HERE?

I started at Comedy Central writing and directing promos for South Park and The Daily Show, then spent years bouncing happily between entertainment, advertising and making my own stuff.

Along the way I co-founded Bodega Studios, where I remain Executive Creative Director and which continues to be my production partner for major brand and agency work.

So: live action. Comedy. Sports. Animation. Movies. Original IP.

(I don’t really believe in lanes.)

WHAT MATTERS TO YOU?

Ideas. Heart. Humor. Craft.

Actors. Athletes. Puppets. Kids. Comedians. Giant productions. Tiny crews. Beautiful images that actually mean something. Characters you want to spend time with. Worlds that feel bigger than the thing you were hired to make.

I’ve never been particularly interested in the wall between advertising and entertainment. People know when something is trying to sell them something. They also know when something is worth watching.

I prefer the second one.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHEN YOU’RE NOT DOING THIS?

Being a husband and dad in Maplewood New Jersey, just outside New York City.

Writing movies nobody asked me to write. Making things nobody asked me to make. Walking the dog. Driving a blue manual Bronco.

ANY SHINY STUFF?

A couple of Emmys. A Gold Clio. A One Show Gold Pencil. An AICP Next Award. An Annie Award. A Webby.

They are lovely.

But it’s always time to make the next thing.

WHAT SHOULD I CALL YOU ABOUT?

A script. A commercial. A show. A character. An original idea. A brand that wants to become something people actually care about. An idea you can’t quite crack.

Or something weird enough that you’re not entirely sure who to call.

Those are usually my favorite.
